DR PETER DRISCOLL

Senior Environmental Advisor

Peter boasts many years as both a biologist and environmental engineer engaged in environmental surveys and assessments on fauna. Activities have been wide ranging from extensive collection and detailed analysis of data to production of reports and publications and organising and managing teams of people. Peter has been pivotal in licensing negotiations for Environmentally Relevant Activities and Indigenous Heritage issues (primarily for sewage treatment plants for Townsville City Council) and been a part of Cumulative Impact Assessments covering a wide range of physical and biological impacts and ameliorations, including EPBC referrals. Peter has designed effluent irrigation schemes and components of sewage treatment plants and project-managed construction of aspects of sewage treatment plants at Dysart and on Magnetic Island. Peter has had major roles with community consultative groups when working for Townsville City Council.

Peter brings the following key skills:

◗ Undertaken planning and fieldwork on numerous bird surveys throughout Queensland.
◗ Recent desktop review of monitoring of shorebirds in the Gladstone region for Gladstone Ports Corporation.
◗ Analysis and review of database records of seabirds for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
◗ Report on birdlife in the Cape Bowling Green Ramsar Site near Townsville for the Qld and Commonwealth Governments (DEHP and SEWPAC).
◗ Past experience in teaching and individual research in ecology at QUT.
◗ Conversant with a range of GIS and database management systems including city wide water reticulation models including major involvement in developing a model of the Townsville water reticulation system using WaterGems
and ArcGIS.
◗ Experience in sediment and erosion control, groundwater and soils monitoring, and risk management having been responsible for the Risk Management Plan for Townsville Water.
